Sondra Pransky: I wouldn't be surprised if he asked me to marry him someday.

Sid Waterman: You come from an orthodox family, would they accept a serial killer?

Sondra Pransky: Why would Peter kill a prostitute?

Sid Waterman: Because it looks bad on his resume!

Sid Waterman: I don't know what you've been smoking, but don't try to bring it through customs.

Sondra Pransky: Why don't you think about this as adding some excitement to your life?

Sid Waterman: Sweeheart, excitement in my life is dinner without heartburn after it.

Porquê tantas transcrições de diálogos? Porque são simplesmente deliciosos, rápidos e inteligentes. Acho mesmo que este “Scoop” vale por isso mesmo, pela rapidez com que as personagens pensam e falam, e inventam esta teoria da conspiração que começa com a súbita materialização do espírito do recém-falecido Joe Strombel (dentro de uma caixa de magia onde supostamente alguém se desmaterializa!) um repórter de investigação que nem depois de morto, e já a caminho da eternidade dentro da barca da morte, desiste deste “Last Big Scoop”.
Woody Allen é simplesmente hilariante, desajeitado, trapalhão mas “gracioso”, imagino que ele seja assim no seu dia-a-dia.
Sondra Pransky é uma jovem Americana aspirante a repórter que está em Londres. Inicia esta hilariante investigação após ser informada pelo espírito que que Peter Lyman, um jovem aristocrata, estaria envolvido no caso do assassino do tarot. Mas Sondra é demasiado inocente, ou demasiado volúvel, para conseguir distinguir entre a investigação e a sua vida pessoal e acaba por se envolver com o suspeito.
Tudo isto num tom surrealista, entre espíritos, barcas da morte e truques de cartas a história vai sendo contada num tom de comédia pelas ruas de Londres, em cenários crus e planos simples.
Um Woody Allen bem diferente do “Another Woman” que vi no outro dia, ainda assim um belo filme para encerrar o dia.
